Our Timeline
1977 – Dave Jones Plumbing, Inc. was founded by Dave Jones, first operating out of his garage, and then in a shop in his hometown of Mount Horeb, WI.
1985 – Dave acquired a small heating and cooling company so he could expand his service offerings to his customers.
1992 – The company moved to Monona to be closer to customers and suppliers.
2005 – The company constructed new headquarters at 2225 Kilgust Road in Monona. The 30,000 square foot facility includes prefabrication equipment for plumbing and heating, as well as administrative offices and an expansive warehouse. The move was essential for the company’s continued growth and technological advancement in its industry. The building provided the necessary support for their employees and was named the 2006 “New Building of the Year” award by the City of Monona. In 2008, Dave added to his promise of “One Call Does it All” by acquiring a local fire sprinkling business. The dedicated employees of Dave Jones Fire Protection provide design, installation, and service of fire protection systems throughout Wisconsin.
2005 – The company acquired a local plumbing company, Veridian Plumbing, to expand its relationship with Veridian Homes.
2008 – The company acquired a local fire protection company (10 team members) to expand service offerings to its customers.
2015 – Dave retires and, Greg Jones and Holly Jones purchased the remaining shares of Dave Jones from their parents, Dave and Jill Jones. The purchase was the final step in a transition of ownership from one generation to the next. Greg and Holly have proven themselves as great leaders, and the entire Dave Jones team looks forward to the future.
2016 – Growth in the Milwaukee market warranted our first brick and mortar location there.
2017 – The Residential Framing Division was started, but despite our best efforts; it was not financially feasible. In 2019 we made the difficult decision to close it. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” – Wayne Gretzky
2017 – The Dave Jones, Inc. Service Team expanded into its own facility next to the company’s headquarters in Monona.
2018 – The company acquired two local electrical companies (60 team members) to expand its service offerings to its customers.
2018 – The Dave Jones, Inc. Fleet & Facilities Team expanded into it’s own facility near the company’s headquarters in Monona.
2021 – DJI acquired Steg Plumbing (60 team members) for its first out-of-state expansion.
2022 – Dave Jones, Inc. expanded to the Columbus, Ohio market in Residential New Construction Plumbing.
2022 – The company opened it’s state-of-the-art Training & Development Center next to the company’s headquarters in Monona.
2023 – Dave Jones, Inc. merged with Wisconsin’s largest homebuilder, Veridian Homes, to form Forgewell Building Group. Forgewell also includes Steg Plumbing, Auburn Ridge, and Marshall Towne Building Supply. The name “Forgewell” was chosen as it reflects a shared commitment to excellence in craft, service, and teamwork.
