Not sure if you’re ready to replace your furnace or a/c? We suggest repair if/when:
- When repair costs are less than one-third of the replacement cost.
- If your unit is under 10 years old.
- If it’s still within the warranty period (refer to your warranty terms).
When Should You Replace Your Unit?
Upgrading all or part of your heating and cooling system is a significant investment. When an older unit experiences consistent issues or displays reduced energy efficiency, enhancing your home comfort system may be more cost-effective. Dave Jones can help you in assessing your heating and cooling system and help you determine if a York® or Heil ® system meets your needs and budget.
Reasons for Replacement:
- If repair costs approach 50% of the replacement cost.
- If your unit requires frequent repairs.
- When humidity issues indicate operational problems.
- As warranties near expiration.
- When facing high dust levels and poor air quality.
- If your furnace is over 15 years old, and the heat pump or AC is over 10 years old.
Furnace Installation
One size does NOT fit all! Furnaces come in multiple sizes and once you and your home’s needs are factored in, we can help you find the one that is not too small, not too big, but just right for you. A properly sized furnace can have greater efficiency, lower energy use, fewer repairs, and a longer lifespan over one that is mismatched for your home.
Whole-home Systems to Add to Your Furnace
Whole-home humidifier – Dry winter air can dry out sensitive sinuses and turn the family pet into a walking ball of static. Whole house humidifiers are perfect for people who want the relief from a humidifier, without having to manually turn it on and off or refill a water tank. Our Honeywell home humidifiers are mounted onto your furnace and set up with a water supply. Maintenance involves replacing a filter or seasonal cleaning, depending on model. Ask your HVAC tech to include it in your yearly furnace tune-up, or furnace replacement.
Whole-home dehumidifier – Air conditioning units can reduce a lot of the humidity from the heavy and humid summer air, but what if you would rather suck the humidity out of the air without having to turn on the a/c? Our Honeywell whole-house dehumidifiers are mounted on your furnace and dehumidify the air as it is circulated through your home. Maintenance involves replacing a filter or seasonal cleaning, depending on model. Ask your HVAC tech to include it in your yearly furnace tune-up, or furnace replacement.
Air Filtration and Cleaning Systems – If air quality is a concern in your home, consider a high-performance air filter or a UV light duct sanitizing system for your furnace. Learn more about air filtration and purification systems here.
Thermostats – Current thermostat models from Honeywell can include Bluetooth or Wifi controls, and outdoor air data. They also have the ability to integrate with your Honeywell whole-home humidifier or dehumidifier.
